If you like going out into the countryside and you are new to birdwatching, we propose an alternative, introductory route for you to get to know the surroundings of the Natural Park, familiarise yourself with the rich heritage of the orchards and traditional irrigation systems and enjoy observing some of the most emblematic bird species of our area in this beautiful ornithological route, close up and accompanied by expert guides. To do this, there is nothing better than a day in the countryside by bike, taking a quiet and pleasant ride that will start at the interpretation centre of the El Hondo Natural Park and end at Carrizales, a cultivated area close to the park that has recently been incorporated into the El Hondo SPA (Special Protection Area for Birds). Of course, the picnic lunch is not to be missed. We will include local products to enjoy this magnificent environment with all five senses.
Our day will begin at the interpretation centre, where we will meet our ornithological guide, who will accompany us throughout the route and take us to explore the most fascinating corners of the reserve.
We will start our bike tour, pedalling along the winding paths that meander through the Carrizales, a unique ecosystem that is home to a wide variety of water birds and native plant species. With the help of our guide, we will observe birds such as herons, grebes, coots and many more, while enjoying the fresh air and the tranquillity of the natural environment.
Along the way, we will stop at several strategic observation points, where we can enjoy panoramic views of the reserve and spot birds in their natural habitat. Our guide will share his knowledge of the local birdlife and provide us with interesting information about the species we observe.
And to recharge our batteries, we will stop at a picturesque spot for a delicious picnic or snack, where we will savour a selection of local products while we relax and share anecdotes with our companions on the route.
At the end of the route, we will return to the starting point with a heart full of unforgettable memories and the satisfaction of having explored one of the most impressive natural environments in the region.
